Worship

Rev. Dr. Carson O. Mouser is the primary worship leader for our congregation. He draws upon a variety of resources to invite the congregation into an experience of worship that connects them more deeply with God and one another.

He may read an excerpt from a book, show a movie clip, or invite the congregation to listen to a piece of music. Congregational interaction may be requested. Or, there may be some silence, a quiet pause for listening to God.

In worship, the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are interpreted to evoke a message or experience of God that is authentic for the living of our lives.

Support and encouragement are offered , as we sing and as we pray for and with one another. We never know what will happen as we come together for worship, but many of us say that we carry the impact of our time together on Sunday mornings into the daily experiences of our lives.

Baptism

As Presbyterians, we believe that baptism is one of two sacraments in which believers and their children are welcomed into the family of God.

We baptize both children and adults, signifying their inclusion in this community of faith, where they may come to know themselves as loved and cherished by God.

In the sacrament of baptism, we also    acknowledge the forgiveness of God, available to each of us and we affirm God's invitation to become people whose lives are responsive of God's goodness, wisdom and love.

To discuss baptism for yourself or your child, please contact Rev. Carson O. Mouser.

The Lord's Supper

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, also known as communion, is generally celebrated the first Sunday of each month.

Our communion table is open to all who have been baptized. One need not be a member of this or any other congregation to participate in the Lord's Supper.

In this sacrament, bread and grape juice are served in remembrance of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, for our healing and salvation. These simple elements signify and convey God's grace to us, sustaining our lives, connecting us to one another, and renewing our lives for the sake of serving God in our world.

ChildrensGuideChildren in Worship

Just as children are included with their families at mealtime, we believe children should be included, when the family of church gathers to worship God.

A children's activity packet and Children's Bible are available each Sunday morning. A helpful resource for parents A Children's Guide to Worship, is found in the bookracks in each pew.

This resource guides parents who wish to support their children as full and active participants in the experiences and actions of worship. We recognize that the needs and abilities of children and their families differ. Therefore, child care is provided, each Sunday morning, in our church nursery.

                                                           Music

Sing a joyful noise unto the  Lord!

Whether there is a choir in the loft, special special visitors playing instrumental music, or the congregation joining in song, music is an important and integral part of every worship service.

Our music program is directed by those

in the congregation with a passion for sharing their gifts through song.  Instrumental accompaniment is offered     by organ, piano, guitar, and/or recorded music. Typically, we gather a choir for the seasons

of Advent and Lent and to provide special music as needed during other times of the year. It is

an open, welcoming group that experiences and expresses faith through music.
